WOODSTOCK – A Woodstock man was given prison time after he admitted to possessing the drug ecstasy.

Ryan A. Crotty, 25, pleaded guilty Friday to possession of the controlled substance in a plea deal accepted by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather. He was given the minimum sentence associated with a Class 1 felony, or four years in prison, and all other remaining charges were dropped.

Prather also recommended Crotty be placed in the Illinois Department of Corrections’ impact incarceration, or boot camp.

Assistant State’s Attorney Kate Lenhard said Crotty was in possession of more than 200 but fewer than 600 capsules of ecstasy when he was arrested March 4 in Crystal Lake.

At the time of his arrest, he was already on probation stemming from a 2010 arrest for the same charge.
