Police say hit-and-run killed 21-year-old woman

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police have identified a woman killed late Friday in a hit-and-run accident as a 21-year-old coffeehouse worker who had studied graphic design.

Police say Carissa Hinz was struck and killed by a dark-colored vehicle in the city's South Side Bridgeport neighborhood. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the Bridgeport Coffee Company where she'd worked for more than a year. She died at the scene.

Police say the vehicle was traveling so fast that the impact knocked Hinz through the rear window and into the backseat of a parked car.

A friend and co-worker says the victim recently graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago specializing in graphic design.
