Algonquin roadside safety check nets 20 tickets

ALGONQUIN – On Friday, the Illinois State Police and the Algonquin Police Department conducted a joint roadside safety check in Algonquin on Route 62 and Ryan Parkway.

Troopers from the State Police, District 2, and officers from Algonquin Police Department issued 20 citations during the detail. Of those, two citations were for driving under the influence, two were for not having a child in a child restraint, four were for driving without a valid driver’s license, and nine were for driving without insurance The other citations and arrests were for unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm without firearm owners identification card.

The Roadside Safety Check is part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign and is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
