State Rep. Jack Franks, D-Marengo, issued the following news release Tuesday:
WOODSTOCK, Ill. – State Representative Jack D. Franks, D-Marengo, and state Senator Pamela Althoff, R-McHenry, met with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) secretary Ann Schneider, and local leaders, Monday, to discuss priorities for infrastructure improvement in McHenry County.
“The quality of our roads, bridges and other infrastructure is of vital importance to the economic health of our communities,” said Althoff. “First-hand accounts from community leaders are the best way for IDOT officials to determine local infrastructure needs.”
The meeting, held at Marengo Community High School, was arranged by Franks and Althoff to facilitate a dialogue between local government officials and IDOT, and was attended by numerous mayors, village trustees and township highway commissioners from communities across McHenry County. The topics discussed included improvement of the intersection of Illinois Routes 47 and 176 in Lakewood, the status of a planned interchange on I-90 at Route 23 and the expansion of PACE bus services throughout McHenry County.
“Sen. Althoff and I believe that McHenry County needs a proactive development strategy,” Franks said. “The massive population growth seen in McHenry County during the previous two decades will require continued investment on the part of the state to ensure that our communities stay competitive on a local and national level. This meeting provided a good start to that process.”
