CARY – A Wauconda teenager is in fair condition after falling off a fence and impaling himself on a wooden stake Wednesday.
Cary Fire Lt. Michael Douglass said paramedics responded to 345 Alma Terrace just before 5 p.m. to find a 19-year-old male impaled on a wooden stake after jumping a fence. Paramedics rushed him to Cary Fire Station No. 1 where it was determined he needed to be transported to a level one trauma center.
The teen was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Douglass said he is now in fair condition, meaning he has stable vital signs, is conscious and has a favorable outlook for a full recovery.
Douglass said he could not disclose the teen's name because of identity protection laws.
