Severe thunderstorm watch issued for McHenry County

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for McHenry County until 1 p.m. Friday.

The thunderstorm watch has been issued for 10 Illinois counties, including Boone, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, Winnebago, and McHenry.

A thunderstorm watch indicates that conditions are conducive to the development of a thunderstorm in the area.

The showers and thunderstorms are expected to become scattered by 2 p.m. and should end by mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Rainfall may total one inch.
