Funeral plans set for James Gandolfini

NEW YORK – Funeral services for actor James Gandolfini will be Thursday at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City.

An HBO spokeswoman speaking on behalf of the family said the funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The 51-year-old star of “The Sopranos” died Wednesday in Rome. Family spokesman Michael said Gandolfini died of a heart attack.

The Italian news agency ANSA reports Gandolfini’s body departed Rome for the United States on Sunday. Kobold earlier told reporters the “provisional plan” was to repatriate Gandolfini’s body Monday.

The actor had been headed to Sicily to appear at the Taormina Film Festival, which paid tribute to him Saturday.
