LAKEWOOD – A minor traffic citation is pending against a Crystal Lake woman after a motorcycle crash last week left one man dead, authorities said.

Marion E. Landfear, 46, of Crystal Lake, soon will be charged with failure to yield after a crash killed 30-year-old Scott Alcock, Lakewood Police Chief Larry Howell said.

Alcock, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Two days earlier, a sedan driven by Landfear collided with his motorcycle at Haligus Road and Bonnie Drive in Lakewood.

Landfear was heading south on Haligus Road when she tried to make a left turn onto Bonnie Drive and struck the northbound motorcycle, authorities said.

Alcock was not wearing a helmet; his blood results came back negative for both drugs and alcohol, Howell said.

Although it doesn’t appear drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, Landfear’s blood work is being sent to a state crime lab for analysis – a common practice in any traffic accident involving an injury. The results can take up to a month or longer.

Texting or distracted driving also are not believed to have played a role, Howell said.

“In my career, I’ve seen more accidents that leave people badly injured involving motorcycles,” Howell said. “People need to be aware that motorcycles are out there on the road.”
