Hub Arkush, longtime editor and publisher of Pro Football Weekly and senior football analyst with WSCR-670 The Score in Chicago, has been hired by Shaw Media to cover the Bears for its daily, weekly and digital publications.

Beginning in mid-July, Arkush will provide daily Bears news and analysis to Shaw Media publications, including Crystal Lake-based Northwest Herald, the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb, the Kane County Chronicle, the Morris Daily Herald and Sauk Valley Media in Sterling and Dixon.

Arkush’s work also will be featured in dozens of Shaw Media’s weekly publications, including the Suburban Life weeklies in DuPage, Will and suburban Cook counties, and the Lake County Journal.

Shaw Media also will launch HubArkush.com, which will include breaking Bears and NFL news and blogs, video analysis from Arkush and other Shaw reporters, photo slideshows and more.

"We are thrilled to have Hub joining our team," said John Rung, president of Shaw Media. "He is a veteran journalist and one of the nation's most respected pro football experts. We are confident Hub's comprehensive package of content – combined with the football analysis provided by other Shaw reporters – will be of tremendous value to our readers and advertisers."

A veteran NFL analyst, Arkush joined Pro Football Weekly in 1976 and became editor and publisher in 1979. At its peak, Pro Football Weekly was the largest NFL publication in the country with more than 750,000 readers.

Arkush, an award-winning broadcaster, was hired by the Chicago Bears Radio Network in 1987 to be color commentator during Bears game broadcasts, a position he held until 2004. He currently is a senior football analyst on the Score and a sideline reporter and NFL Insider on Dial Global Sports' national radio broadcasts of NFL games. He’s also hosted, written and edited several TV shows dedicated to the Bears and the NFL. Pro Football Weekly On TV, which began in 1988 on NBC, is now broadcast by Comcast Sports Net.

"Watching, analyzing, reporting on and writing and talking about pro football has been my passion for over 30 years, and the opportunity to join Shaw Media and focus my work where I've lived my whole life on the team I grew up following is a dream come true,” Arkush said. “I am extremely impressed by the brand of journalism practiced by the folks at Shaw, and I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity to join their team."

Mitch Rosen, program director at 670 The Score, praised Shaw for hiring Arkush.

“The name Hub Arkush is synonymous with professional football,” Rosen said. “Hub is a brand that transcends knowledge, insight, and opinion when talking about the NFL. When Hub is on the air for a pre-game show, talk show, or segment report, he brings great energy and insight like no one else in the business.”
