Where’s the money?

To the Editor:

It’s clear Illinois legislators pillaged the pension funds of those who were required by law to enroll and invest in the huge fund “managed” by our elected officials.

If I’m not mistaken, a high percentage of these employees are not eligible to enroll in Social Security. These same elected officials have nothing personally to lose because their pensions are on solid ground. It’s also clear that their actions over the past decades have firmly placed Illinois at the bottom of the financial heap. The laughingstock of the U.S.

I have not seen any accounting for what was done with the money these representatives stole from the taxpayers and pensioners of Illinois.

I’m sure there was adequate law in place to allow this thievery. And if the law allowed this, could there be an accounting for where the money was spent? That would be nice to see by line item.

My personal conspiracy theory tells me agencies screaming the loudest for lack of current funding, public or private, are the same institutions that profited from the piracy that took place over the past decades. Perhaps Mike Madigan and his cronies could easily show us where the money went. I’ve been looking and can’t find the data.

Shame on us for continuing to re-elect those responsible for this tragedy.
