Huntley driver's ed students experience dangers of texting and driving

Huntley High School students took a break from driver's education Thursday to demonstrate the dangers of texting while driving.

Driving golf carts with an instructor next to them, students attempted to read emails or send text messages while driving through a course in the school's parking lot.

Students also went through other stations, where they learned about the parts of the car and insurance.

"We learned today many students don't know how to pop open the hood," Huntley High School summer school principal Anne Pasco said. "They don't know where the driver's information is. Things that many of us as adults take for granted because we drive all the time and they need to know that because they're first - time drivers."
