Lake in the Hills man faces drug charges
LAKE IN THE HILLS – A Lake in the Hills man has been arrested on several drug-related charges, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael A. Parra, 27, was charged Friday with five counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of marijuana and a count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He also was charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, as well as counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
The arrest ended an undercover investigation into complaints of the sale of prescription medications and marijuana in Lake in the Hills.
The investigation was led by the sheriff’s office’s narcotics unit, which includes members of the Lake in the Hills Police Department. Members of the Intelligence Led Policing and K-9 units assisted with serving the search warrant, which took place Friday at a home in the first block of Wander Way.
During the search, officers seized four drug-laced suckers, 37.8 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, a digital scale, 69 alprazolam pills, six amphetamine and dextroamphetamine pills, and three carisoprodol pills, according to a news release. The drugs were value at more than $2,210.
Two other adults and a juvenile were released from the scene after the search warrant was executed.
Parra is being held at the McHenry County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
