VOLO – The rumble and roar of hundreds of custom cars, hot rods, muscle cars and motorcycles will thunder into Volo on Saturday morning for the VooDoo A-Go-Go Show.
The rain-or-shine show, benefiting the American Cancer Society, will feature rockabilly bands, grilled food, flame shows, auctions, raffles, vendors and more. It is hosted by the VooDoo Kings Kustom Car Club of Northern Illinois, Rob Weinberg, aka VooDoo Rob, said in a news release.
Show cars will roll in at 9 a.m., and the show opens to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Volo Auto Museum grounds at 27582 Volo Village Road.
Lil’ Red & the Howlin’ Wolves, with VooDoo Larry, will be among the featured live musical performances.
Those entering a vehicle in the show will pay $20 and receive two wristbands for museum admission.
All event proceeds will go to the cancer society, Weinberg said.
“We’re looking to raise $3,000 to $4,000,” Weinberg said. “Of course, we’d like to raise as much as possible … we lost a member of our club to cancer. One of our club members just lost a sister. My uncle has Stage 4 cancer. It’s hit home pretty heavy in our club.”
Spectators will pay regular museum admission: free for members; $13.95 for adults; $8.95 for children 5 to 12; $11.95 for seniors 65 and older and for veterans and military personnel with ID; and free for children younger than 5 as well as military personnel in uniform.
The VooDoo Kings are a ’50s-focused group. For information, find VooDoo Kings Car Club on Facebook or call the museum at 815-385-3644.
