Rockford hotel fire displaces 60, injures 3 people

ROCKFORD – A fire forced 60 people to leave a Rockford hotel Wednesday with many rescued by ladder from second-floor windows.

Fire District chief Jim Rife tells the Rockford Register Star the fire caused smoke damage throughout the Howard Johnson Hotel. Three people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
