CRYSTAL LAKE – Creative Arts Art School students completed the mural on the south wall of Dole Mansion, depicting the theme “History and creativity keep us all connected.”

A dedication ceremony will be from 2 to 4 p.m. July 20 by the mural at 400 Highland Ave. Awards will be given to the students who painted the mural, and a plaque that will be attached to the mural’s wall at a later date will be presented.

Activities such as face painting, bags and sidewalk chalk drawings will be available to attendees of the free event. The band Sandbox will perform.

The event will be held rain or shine and will be moved indoors for inclement weather. Food donated by community members will be served.

Creative Arts director Amber Larsen said she is more than satisfied with the completion of the mural.

“It was absolutely more amazing than I ever anticipated, what the kids just took on with color bending and three-dimensionality,” Larsen said. “They were amazing and they owned it. They did the best they could do and outperformed themselves.”
