To the Editor:
I have written two submissions that have been deemed fit to be published. One was a letter about Metra fare increases and will the upper management give themselves a raise after increasing the fares. The other was to express my gratitude that Rep. Jack Franks is the kind of elected official who shows what we elect our representatives for.
Who would ever think that these two submissions would dovetail? Well, they have.
Metra’s former CEO stepped down with a few months left on his contract. The board of directors wanted him out and were willing to give him an amazing golden parachute. It was a deal that didn’t need to be made.
The CEO could have worked out the short time he had left on this contract. Franks is looking into this golden parachute. This is the kind of thing we want from our elected representatives – be involved, concerned and do something about it.
Franks also is looking into the college grant housing controversy.
Our buying power is getting weak, and weaker, and agencies such as Metra and colleges are throwing money around as if it had no value.
Thank you, Rep. Franks, for looking out for the common man, and good luck on both campaigns.
