Garbage rates to go up for Holiday Hills in fall

HOLIDAY HILLS – Holiday Hills residents will see their garbage bill go up this fall.

The village contracts with Waste Management, a private company, to provide garbage and recycling pickup to village residents.

The contract is up in August, and the company told village officials at their Monday meeting that rates would increase 27 cents a month under a new contract, Village President Daniel Drury said.

Residents currently pay $15.47 a month.

The village probably won’t rebid the contract over the increase, Drury said, because it’s not very large and the company hasn’t increased rates over the past four years.

Waste Management also sent a letter to residents notifying them of the increase.
