Man's murder trial won't include video game expert

QUINCY — Prosecutors of a Quincy man who's accused in a shooting death say they've decided against having an expert on video games and violence testify during the man's trial.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports an Adams County prosecutor has told a judge he won't elicit the testimony of Ohio State University professor Brad Bushman during 44-year-old Vincent Carter's trial for first-degree murder.

Bushman recently co-authored a study showing people who play violent video games for long periods show increases in aggressive behavior.

Carter will go on trial July 22 on charges he killed 53-year-old Terry Williams in January at an apartment complex in the western Illinois city.

Carter has pleaded not guilty and is jailed on $1 million bond.
