Woodstock doesn't score Main Street paint job

WOODSTOCK – The city has missed out on an opportunity to get a free paint job from Benjamin Moore.

Woodstock had been selected as one of about 150 communities competing in the company’s “Main Street Matters” campaign, wherein Benjamin Moore representatives will repaint business districts of the top 20 vote-getters.

Individuals could vote online once a day per electronic device through June 30. Neither Woodstock or Grayslake, the state’s other representative, were among the top 20 in votes received.

City officials had said the paint job likely would have been applied to the downtown area, suggesting Benton Street, Jefferson Street or Johnson Street might have been selected.

Joplin, Mo.; Flint, Mich.; Hilo, Hawaii; and Xenia, Ohio, were among the cities selected.
