Filled with awe

To the Editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who helped make our 50th annual rummage sale at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McHenry a complete success.

Local businesses such as Ace Hardware, R. A. Adams Enterprises, Ed’s Rental and Justen Funeral Home came forth with equipment to set up and run the sale. The Catholic Order of Foresters Court 594, the Knights of Columbus Council 1288, and members of Boy Scout Troop 149 were instrumental in gathering, distributing and setting up tables, sheets of plywood and other equipment used in classrooms, and again with takedown when the sale ended.

Montini Catholic School’s 2014 eighth-grade class and other students helped carry items to all three floors and classrooms of our school building. We thank parishioners, their children and grandchildren who arrived daily to sort through items and set them up for display.

Thanks to the people of our great community and beyond who donated clean, reusable items, and again for coming back to purchase the treasures they bought.

Lastly, we thank Jacci Buckley and her crew of volunteers for coming afterward to take away all of the leftover merchandise to be distributed to other charities and disaster victims. Our hearts are filled with awe that so many came to our assistance to make this sale a huge success for our church, our school and the people of our community.
