MCC, master gardeners to host garden walk

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College and the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners will host the McHenry County Garden Walk from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The event begins at the college, 8900 Route 14, and features nine gardens. Visitors will receive maps to drive to the other gardens. The self-guided tour allows participants to view the gardens at their own pace.

Participants will travel throughout McHenry County to discover public and private gardens that include stunning designs from intimate city gardens to organic farmettes. Master gardeners will be available at each garden to answer questions.

The demonstration garden at MCC showcases eye-popping annuals grown from seed, as well as perennial gardens for both sun and shade.

Tickets cost $17 and may be purchased at MCC's demonstration garden the day of the event. Not pets will be allowed.
