6 hurt during fire on Chicago's South Side

CHICAGO — Six people, including a child, were injured overnight during a fire on Chicago's South Side.

Deputy District Chief Kenneth Wojtecki says the fire at the four-story apartment building began late Wednesday.

Dozens of people live on the property, which has 50 units. The blaze was mostly contained to a single apartment on the building's top floor, but officials say the fire also spread to a nearby hallway.

Wojtecki says two people were taken to a hospital in serious condition, while the other four were in good condition.

Investigators believe the fire was suspicious.

So far, no arrests have been made.
