8 dogs allegedly abused at Dolton home
DOLTON — A suburban Chicago woman has been charged with eight counts of animal cruelty after dogs were found without food or clean water at her home.
The Animal Crimes Unit of the Cook County Sheriff's Department responded to a tip Wednesday and found eight pit bull-mix dogs outside the Dolton home of 29-year-old Amanda Wise.
Sheriff Tom Dart says the dogs were in pens, crates or chained to a fence and had no food or clean drinking water.
There was no indication of dog fighting at the address.
In addition to animal cruelty, Wise was charged with obstructing a peace officer for allegedly giving sheriff's deputies a false name.
A bond hearing for Wise was set for Thursday.
The South Suburban Humane Society has custody of the dogs.
