To the Editor:
My name is Jon Jenks, and I am 17 and live in Crystal Lake.
For a requirement on one of my merit badges, I am supposed to write to the editor of a local newspaper expressing my opinion on a subject I choose. I would like to express my opinion on concealed-carry firearms in Illinois.
I think that the bill for concealed carry needed to be passed so that all citizens can protect themselves and practice their right to bear arms. I think that Illinois will be a better and safer place.
Many people believe that concealed carry is bad because they think that dangerous people could carry guns. Well, that is not true, because in order to conceal carry, you have to pass background checks, go through training sessions, and you cannot be a felon.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
