Poker run to benefit veterans

PORT BARRINGTON – An inaugural Freedom Branches Poker Run will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20.

The event will raise funds to send veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials built in their honor.

Advance registration costs $10 per rider and $10 for each passenger. Free T-shirts are available with advance registration while supplies last. At the event, the cost will be $20 per rider and $10 per passenger.

First- and second-place cash prizes will be given to the best poker hands.

A breakfast for all registrants will take place at 9 a.m., with the first bike out at 10 a.m. from The Broken Oar, 614 Rawson Bridge Road, Port Barrington.

The stops will be Donley's Wild West, Union; Stingerz, Harvard; Doyle's, Richmond; and back to The Broken Oar.

There also will be 50-50 drawings and raffle prizes including a Dan Hampton signed football, a "Peanut" Tillman signed jersey, a Lake Geneva package, gift certificates and more.
