LAKEMOOR – A man was flown to the hospital Monday after he crashed his motorcycle along Route 120 in Lakemoor.

The 24-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Route 120 when the wreck occurred. A witness said the man was trying to avoid a semitrailer that was changing lanes, causing him to swerve off the road and into the grass, according to the Wauconda Police Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 11:08 a.m. When they arrived, the man was lying unconscious in the grass next to the highway, according to a news release from the McHenry Township First Protection District.

He was taken via Flight For Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries, according to the news release.

The man was not wearing a helmet, police said. Eastbound Route 120 was closed for about three hours after the accident.

The accident is being investigated by the Lakemoor Police Department and the Lake-McHenry County Major Crash Assistance Team.
