Land to sell

To the Editor:

There are many things I don’t understand, but here are some I do understand.

Gov. Pat Quinn wants to provide taxpayer-funded legal advice to people subject to eviction. People buy the extra house or apartment building in hope that the rent will cover the mortgage payment, real estate tax, insurance and maintenance. If non-paying renters are allowed to remain much longer in the building, maintenance will suffer and slums with follow (Detroit).

There is talk in Congress on making it harder to collect credit card debt by restrictions on collecting. If you borrow money, there is an understanding you will pay it back with some interest. If you do not pay it back, you cannot borrow again.

Can you imagine paying for everything in cash? Most stores would close in a couple of months.

On the subject of immigration reform. There are about 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States. If these people are legalized, there probably are 7 million to 8 million more who are family members or soon-to-be family members.

A PBS news show had a special report on young people, especially high school dropouts, and their inability to find jobs. When I was younger, the young people found work cutting grass and cleanup work in stores and restaurants. Now, young people are on their cellphones and texting, learning nothing.

With more than 23 million households receiving food stamps, and you believe the 7.6 percent unemployment rate, I have some land in Florida I’ll sell you by Quick Claim Deed.
