Woodstock man faces drug charges

WOODSTOCK – A Woodstock man is scheduled to appear in court next week on multiple drug charges, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Mark T. Smith, 27, was charged on July 2 with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis, as well as misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies stopped an RV being driven by Smith on July 2 that was eastbound on Route 14 in an unincorporated area of the county near Crystal Lake for traveling with unsafe equipment, according to a news release. The Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit later searched the vehicle and found illegal narcotics.

Those drugs included 36.2 grams of cannabis, seven pharmaceutical pills, drug paraphernalia and more than $5,000 in cash, the news release states.

Smith is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. July 24.
