Don’t be a vigilante

To the Editor:

I read with interest the letter in the July 16 Northwest Herald yahooing concealed carry and the George Zimmerman case. What has not been noted was that Zimmerman’s first contact with the police department was stating a suspicious person and dispatch then advising him not to follow but to stay in his vehicle. What does he do? Jump out carrying his trusty gun and proceeding to act like the Lone Ranger.

As a former member of Neighborhood Watch several years ago, the first and foremost thing that you are taught is not to be a vigilante, observe only and call the police. That’s the No. 1 rule. What part of this do we not understand?

Want to get away with homicide? Just live in Florida. They acquitted Casey Anthony and now they have done the exact same with George Zimmerman.
