C-G's Ruhland gets offer from Minnesota

Published: Monday, July 22, 2013 8:42 a.m. CDT

Cary-Grove offensive lineman Trevor Ruhland received a scholarship offer from Minnesota over the weekend, likely the first of many for the 6-foot-4, 270-pound junior.

Ruhland and Michael Gomez, both sophomores last season, were Northwest Herald All-Area first-team selections after helping the Trojans reach the Class 6A state championship game, where they lost to Crete-Monee.

Ruhland’s father Matt played at Iowa. Trevor also has made unofficial visits to Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa this summer, although some were before schools could offer to juniors.

Ruhland likely projects at a left tackle. At C-G, the Trojans flip-flop their linemen depending on what they do in their option offense and Ruhland and Gomez worked on whatever side the tight end lined up on that play.
