Cary Grove chamber hosts SportsFest

CARY – Free rock climbing for kids, free games and activities and free chances to win prizes are some of the highlights of this year’s SportsFest 2013, a sports and fitness showcase sponsored by the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event will be from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Feinberg Court Business District,  Route 14 and Feinberg Drive, Cary.

Vendors include will include Cary Grove Junior Trojan Youth Football, Cary Youth Baseball, Cary Soccer Association, Cary Matmen Wrestlers, as well as many sports- and fitness-related businesses and resources. 

A vendor raffle conducted by the Cary Grove chamber will include a grand prize of six skybox seat tickets to the Cubs vs. Pirates on Sept. 23 sponsored by Sage Products. An obstacle course challenge for kids sponsored by New Balance Athletic Shoes Crystal Lake will award a new bike from Wal-Mart as a grand prize. The event also will feature outdoor entertainment and food, and demonstrations all day, from cheerleading, to jazzercise and karate.

Chamber legislative luncheon July 30

LAKEWOOD – A multi-chamber legislative luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30 at Turnberry Country Club, 9600 Turnberry Trail, Lakewood.

Guest will be Bruce Rauner, Republican candidate for governor.

The cost is $25 per person and reservations must be received by July 24. Register at www.clchamber.com.

Residences of Lake in the Hills grand opening

LAKE IN THE HILLS – A grand opening for The Residences of Lake in the Hills, a newly constructed rental community for independent seniors, will be Aug. 5.

Ribbon cutting and remarks will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by a reception and open house.

Guests will include U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam; Mary R. Kenney, executive director of the Illinois Housing Development Authority; Tina Hill, chairwoman of the McHenry County Board; and Paul Mulcahy, village president, Lake in the Hills.

The residences of Lake in the Hills is located at 2601 Village Hall Drive, Lake in the Hills.
