First Friday Art Show to feature tattoo art

CRYSTAL LAKE – The public is invited to a First Friday Art Show from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Dole Mansion and Arts Park at 401 Country Club Road.

The Lakeside Legacy Foundation art show encourages guests to view art, mingle with the artists, enjoy music and explore the Dole Mansion, all while enjoying light appetizers and a cash bar. First Friday’s are free to attend and donations to the foundation are appreciated.

The Aug. 2 exhibit is titled “Art Behind the Ink” and features the body as canvas. It is a showcase of area tattoo artists.

Traditional mediums such as photography, oils, watercolor and acrylic and other artistic expressions will be on display. This exhibit was curated by Crystal Lake resident Mike DeBoer, whose traditional line art depicting traditional tattoo images will be on display.

Participating artists in the exhibit include Joe Schaumann from Full Moon Tattoo in Crystal Lake; John Cackler, Juan Silva and Eric Bullock from Blue Magic Tattoo in Crystal Lake; Chuy Gomez from Wolf’s Fine Line Tattoo in Joliet; and Chicago tattoo artist Nikk Dycha from Krol Body Art.

Photographers Melissa Smith of M.A.K. Photography and Roxanne Rich O’Brian of Wild Side Boudoir partnered with Haute Bombshell Beauty and Tan on an artistic shoot featuring the tattoo work and airbrushing of Joe Schaumann of Full Moon Tattoo.
