OREGON – Authorities in the northern Illinois city of Oregon have identified a body pulled from the Rock River on Monday morning.

Police said Tuesday the victim is 91-year-old Elmer N. Leeds of Oregon. An autopsy Tuesday confirmed that Leeds drowned.

Oregon Police Chief Darin DeHaan said there are no apparent signs of foul play and it’s uncertain how long the man had been in the water.

A couple out fishing found the man’s body near Kiwanis Park in Oregon. Police recovered the body, with help from Oregon Ambulance, Oregon Fire Department and the Ogle County coroner.
