Cubs owner: Dispute with rooftops must be resolved

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have received city approval for their $500 million renovation project at Wrigley Field.

But the team's chairman says there is still work to be done to prevent a legal fight between the Cubs and the owners of the rooftops across the street from Wrigley Field.

Team chairman Tom Ricketts said after the Chicago City Council's Wednesday vote that the issues between the team and the rooftop owners must be resolved "once and for all" before construction can begin.

The rooftop owners have a contract with the Cubs that calls on them to pay the team a chunk of their revenues. The owners have threatened to sue if signs the Cubs plan on putting up in the outfield obstruct their views.
