To the Editor:
This letter is in regard to the July 19 story regarding the McHenry County Ethics Commission hearing on the appropriateness of Undersherrif Andrew Zinke’s email to the 24 members of the McHenry County Board.
It would seem that when a blogger – on what authority, I have no idea – makes a derogatory report of a county employee’s alleged behavior, it is part of that employee’s job description to explain the situation to his employers, who, in this case, are the 24 members of the County Board. And it would be hard to adequately describe what transpired without mentioning the political campaign as the most likely reason for the dissemination of misinformation.
The only party politicizing this is the blogger. Why can’t we just elect our public officials on the basis of their experience, merits and the ability to do the job?
This muckraking does not serve any of us well and is not worthy of our local communities.
