Food drive thanks

To the Editor:

The men and women of the Fox River Grove Firefighters Association would like to thank all the people who generously supported our food drive for the Cary-Grove Food Pantry on July 20.

Not only was a large amount of food donated, but cash gifts amounted to more than $1,000. The food pantry can use that money to purchase food through the Chicagoland Food Depository for about 10 cents on the dollar. That’s a potential purchase of $10,000 worth of food to help those in need within our communities.

In addition, we would like to thank Dominick’s in Fox River Grove for cooperation and support of this project.

Our firefighters count it a privilege to serve and protect our community. We thank you for your support of this food drive and all the other ways you support our department.

The Rev. Gerald Schalk

Chaplain, Fox River Grove Fire Department
