Harvard man charged with predatory sex assault

HARVARD – A Harvard man faces three sexual assault felonies after being charged with abusing a 7-year-old girl in July.

Maximiliano Ramirez-Mercado, 23, of 106 S. Division St. in Harvard, was arrested Thursday by Harvard Police, which charged him with predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual abuse.

Predatory criminal sexual assault is a Class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison and each count of criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Mercado is being held in McHenry County Jail without bond.
