CHICAGO – A Chicago woman who was driving nine children and another adult when her SUV rolled over on Interstate 57 on the city's South Side has been charged with drunken driving and child endangerment.

In a news release, the Illinois State Police said 30-year old Tonica Conwell was speeding shortly after midnight when her SUV went up an embankment and rolled over. All of the children, along with Conwell and an adult passenger, were taken to area hospitals. They were treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening. The children's ages range from 3 to 14.

State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said many of the children were not wearing seat belts or in safety restraints.
