Woman transported to hospital in Wauconda fire

A fire in a Wauconda home Monday resulted in one woman being taken to the hospital. The cause is still under investigation.
A fire in a Wauconda home Monday resulted in one woman being taken to the hospital. The cause is still under investigation.

WAUCONDA – One woman was taken to the hospital after a home caught fire in Wauconda Monday afternoon.

Around 3:15 p.m. firefighters responded to the heavy smoke at 767 Lipizzan Lane. The blaze was extinguished in 10 minutes, according to the Wauconda Fire Department

The woman was the only person home at the time of the fire, and her injuries appear to be minor burns, according to the Wauconda Fire Department. A cat was also in the home, which firefighters were able to rescue.

The fire is believed to have started in a second story closet, according to the fire officials. The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Lake Zurich and Round Lake Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
