CEO and President of Crystal Lake Bank & Trust Jim Thorpe poses with Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley at a recent Crystal Lake City Council meeting.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Crystal Lake Bank & Trust will be the presenting sponsor for the City of Crystal Lake’s Centennial Celebration next year.

Jim Thorpe, CEO and president of Crystal Lake Bank & Trust, presented the Crystal Lake City Council with a $10,000 check at a meeting Aug. 6.

The city's Centennial Committee had sought donations from local businesses to offset the cost of events planned for the yearlong celebration of Crystal Lake's history.

"Crystal Lake Bank & Trust stepped up to the plate," Mayor Aaron Shepley said

Crystal Lake businesses have long supported the local community through donations of time and money, Shepley said.

"We're very pleased and very grateful," the mayor added.

Thorpe said the bank is excited to partner with the city for such a significant milestone.

“When we founded our bank, it was important for us to incorporate the city’s name into our bank’s name," he said. "We believe this shows the commitment to the local community and our understanding of what it means to support local initiatives such as the city’s centennial."
