HUB'S 3-POINT STANCE: Bears keeping it all in the family

1 A source at Olivet Nazarene University tells me that Food Services almost got caught short Sunday when twice as many team members as usual showed up for meals on an off day. Don’t worry, everyone had plenty to eat, but the ONU folks really had to hustle. In the past, players might have chosen to go out for meals or hang around their rooms. Some observers are taking almost the entire team showing up at the cafeteria, including stars such as Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Julius Peppers and Co., as a sign they all are buying into coach Marc Trestman’s “we’re a family first” mantra.

2 Keep an eye on cornerback Isaiah Frey as an example of a fringe player benefitting in camp from another’s misfortune. While cornerback Kelvin Hayden continues to rehab a hamstring, Frey had his third interception in two days Tuesday morning the nickel back.

3 In case you’re wondering about what I wrote on the tight ends the other day, Leonard Pope took reps with the first team Tuesday, his second full practice with the club. The No. 2 tight end spot is his to lose.
