Man killed in motorcycle crash in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK – A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of Route 14 and Dean Street, the Woodstock Fire Rescue District said.

The man has been identified as Patrick J. Lulling, 54, of Arlington Heights, according to the Woodstock Police Department.

Lulling, driving a motorcycle, struck a minivan that was attempting to turn south onto Dean Street from westbound Route 14 after the traffic signal had turned red, according to a news release. Lulling was heading eastbound on Route 14 and also ran the red light.

Lulling was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan, Glenn L. Powers, of Woodstock, was transported to an Centegra Hospital - Woodstock with injuries that were not considered life threatening. He was later cited for failure to yield while turning left at an intersection. 

An autopsy was scheduled for today.

Emergency personnel were called at 4:26 p.m. and shut down the intersection for about three hours.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is the second fatal accident involving a motorcycle in the McHenry County area in less than a week. An Ingleside man died on Wednesday after his motorcycle struck struck a vehicle in Fox Lake.
