UNION – The McHenry County Historical Society will offer an afternoon of quilt appraisals Aug. 25.
The event, with appraisals done by Crystal Lake quilt appraiser and author Sandy Schweitzer, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in the research library of the museum, 6422 Main St., Union.
A donation of $30 to the historical society is requested for each 15-minute verbal appraisal.
Schweitzer is a quilt artist and teacher, as well as an American Quilt Society certified appraiser. Her presentations, which are open to the public, are informative and entertaining. Much like on “Antiques Roadshow,” viewers will learn about each quilt’s history, pattern and construction. Schweitzer has lectured extensively and also offers a variety of workshops.
