Rotary thank-yous

To the Editor:

The Rotary Club of McHenry extends a big thank you to the city of McHenry; McHenry Township Fire Protection District; corporate sponsors, including the Northwest Herald, Gary Lang Auto, Buss Ford, and Sunnyside Chrysler; Chas. Herdrich and Son; and Rex Towing, along with many others too numerous to list.

We also would like to thank the individuals who attended, along with volunteers, bands and vendors for their support of our second annual Rotary Blues, Brews & BBQ that ran Aug. 2-4 at Petersen Park.

Great music and food, the 5K Run for Youth Leadership, a barbecue cookoff, and perfect summer weather made it a great success. The event allowed Rotary to engage the community and promote the ideals of our 1.2 million global member organization: service above self.

We strive to improve the quality of life of the community every day, and 100 percent of the event’s proceeds will go to the projects we do.

Lastly, thanks to our fellow Rotarians (and spouses), including the McHenry Sunrise Rotary Club for the hundreds of man-hours it took to plan and execute the event.
