Health department receives NACo Achievement Award
The McHenry County Department of Health issued the following news release Tuesday:
WOODSTOCK – McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) has been recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) with an Achievement Award for its “Quick Reference Guide for Public Health Emergencies”. This marks the 15th NACo Achievement Award received by MCDH since 1995. Now in its 44th year, the Achievement Award Program not only recognizes effective and creative programs, but also creates awareness of county activities to share with other counties across the nation.
Educating key response partners, local businesses and the community on disaster related topics is both a priority and a challenge for local health departments. MCDH strives to ensure that residents are aware of the county’s response plan and knowledgeable about their own responsibilities before, during and after disasters. The MCDH Quick Reference Guide for Public Health Emergencies was developed as a way to accomplish this objective.
Distribution of the guide is ongoing, with over 80 copies having been delivered to organizations such as police and fire departments, municipal and township governmental bodies, hospitals, emergency management, functional needs agencies, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, schools and businesses.
