The Huntley Area Public Library re-opened its doors Tuesday after installing new carpet for patrons.
The new carpeting and express checkout lanes were added two days ahead of schedule. The library closed on Aug. 12 to allow construction crews to move the library's book shelves and install the new carpeting.
The new carpet covers the library's main area. A portion of the $55,975 project was paid through a grant from the Illinois Secretary of State's office, which manages the state library system.
"Even though work continues on the renovation of the checkout area, the library staff worked tirelessly to ensure we could re-open as soon as possible to serve the community," Library Director Patrick McDonald said in a news release.
A photo gallery and video of the carpeting and checkout area can be viewed on the library's website, www.huntleylibrary.org.
