To the Editor:
Within a few short days, so many articles have been written about the building of new bleachers at Crystal Lake South High School. What is going on there? Who is paying for this?
Most taxpayers cringe when their real estate tax bill comes in the mail. One of the taxing bodies we finance through our real estate taxes is District 155. We want good schools and we count on those administrators to wisely and carefully use the money we give them.
South High School needed to rebuild the bleachers. Did we need a structure to seat 3,800 people when the stands weren’t full with 1,800 seating? Isn’t this kind of overkill?
At the same time, we are told that the school district has a deficit of more than $1 million. It looks like District 155 knows how to spend money, but do they know how to solve problems?
Many fine young people have graduated from South to go on to higher education and great careers. What is this teaching our young people about how to treat others?
