Socialism’s Waterloo

To the Editor:

Witness Detroit joining Stockton, Calif., in the unthinkable travesty of bankruptcy, proof positive that unchecked government excess begets nothing but pain and suffering for its citizens.

Illinois infamously ranks first among at-risk states, an unspeakable fiscal train wreck borne of feckless corrupt leadership for which the average citizen would do hard jail time.

Socialism’s reality-starved fantasies concocted in the board rooms of higher education devastate a society’s ability to flourish and prosper by squandering, devouring the legitimate fruits of the common man’s labor. Just ask the inhabitants of the former Soviet Union, Greece and Cypress.

As socialized medicine cleverly disguised as “affordable” by the Obama White House destroys the best health care system in the world, members of Congress quietly negotiate their own personal exemptions behind closed doors, confirming most profoundly that the “ruling class” looks upon the great unwashed with smug arrogance and abject contempt.

Alert, engaged Americans must become and remain the collective conscience of our representative republic, holding each and every elected official to account.

Let the priceless genius of the founders celebrating limitless opportunity for every law-abiding citizen take root. Put obscenely obese government from the Oval Office to the county board on a crash diet; we simply cannot afford you any longer.
