District 50 raises pay for administrators, support staff
HARVARD – District 50’s school board on Wednesday night voted to grant 3 percent raises to administrators and nonunion support staff members. The raise – passed unanimously – affects 19 employees.
The raise is consistent with the last couple of years, District 50 Spokesman Bill Clow said. The district chose to freeze the pay of administrators a few years ago during the heart of the recession, Clow said.
Board President Richard Stoxen declined to comment after the meeting on the board’s decision making with regard to raises.
Earlier this summer, the board reached a one-year contract extension with the Harvard Education Association that provided a 3 percent raise to educational support staff members.
Teachers will receive a 2.85 percent raise this year in the second half of a two-year contract struck at the end of last year.
The 19 staff members affected by Wednesday’s vote include 10 administrators and nine support staff members, which includes administrative office secretaries and noncertified managers, Clow said.
About 2,500 students attend District 50 schools, which include Harvard High School, Harvard Junior High School, Jefferson School, Crosby Elementary and Washington School.
