Registration open for smoking cessation classes

HUNTLEY – Seats are still available for quit smoking classes that the McHenry County Department of Health and Centegra Health System are partnering to offer starting Sept. 4.

The once-a-week classes for adults will teach practical ways to end nicotine addiction through group support and behavior modification. Instruction is provided by health department staff members who are trained in the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” program.

Classes will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center, 10450 Algonquin Road, Huntley.

A $25 course fee, payable at the first class, is refundable if all seven sessions are attended. Class members also will receive a three-day pass to the Health Bridge Fitness Center.

To register, call 1-877-236-8347 or visit www.mcdh.info. To speak with a counselor immediately, call the Illinois Tobacco Quitline at 1-866-QUIT-YES.
